The 2014 World Cup to be held in Brazil will be the 20th time the competition has taken place and the second time that Brazil has hosted it. It will be the first time the World Cup has been hosted in South America since 1978 when Argentina hosted the competition.

The 2014 World Cup will take place over a one month period between the 13th of June and July. It will include 32 teams from six confederations. The games will be held between 12 different venues in 12 different host cities. Six of the host cities will build new stadiums for the event and the rest will upgrade their current facilities.

The logo for the World Cup in 2014 has been named "Inspiration" and portrays three hands lifting the World Cup trophy. The design also encompasses the green and yellow colours from the Brazilian flag.

The final twelve cities chosen to host the 2014 World Cup are: Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Cuiabá, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Natal, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and São Paulo.
