Why did Hispanics cheer for the Spanish during the FIFA world cup?

Posted on 09 September 2010 by admin in World Cup 2010 FAQ

The Spanish were their colonial masters and conquerors. Some populations were completely annihilated as a result of inhumane slavery.

Do Hispanics feel they have a bond regardless of this historical fact? Do they not care about their past relationship with the Spaniards?

I could care less what Spaniards did in the pass.I most likely have some Spanish blood, but i will never support those racist pricks.

Not all Hispanics cheer for Spain,in fact there are a lot of Hispanics that based on historic facts as you mention, cheer for any other team except Spain.

And the ones who cheer for Spain do it because there are still strength bonds between Spain and Latin America, there are a lot of Hispanics that have Spanish family roots, a lot more have understand that what happen during America’s Conquer or Invasion was a lot of time ago and the Spanish of today doesn’t have nothing to do with the ones that invaded Latin America , and Latin Americans share a lot with Spanish, like language, religion etc etc

And one more important fact is marketing, in Latin America as the rest of the world, media told us that Barcelona F.C. plays the best football, and Spain is the Barcelona version in national teams, so a lot of people decided to cheer for Spain because they play the best football.

I think it’s only the people you hang out with or the people in your city. I live in Mexico and everyone here hates those racist @holes.
